THE HISTORY
OF VOLVO
Volvo was founded in 1927 by two visionaries, Assar Gabrielsson
and Gustaf Larson. Their first production line of cars was the
Volvo ÖV4, which rolled off the production line on the
island of Hisingen, Göteborg.
Volvo has grown tremendously over the years, and they are now
one of the world's largest manufacturers of heavy trucks, buses
and construction equipment. The Volvo Companies now have more
than 76,000 employees around the world, and a presence in over
125 countries.
Besides manufacturing tremendous series of automobiles, Volvo
Motor Group purchased Renault Trucks and Mack Trucks in 2001.
This has bolstered their position as a leading producer of European
Large Trucks.
As a producer of some of the most reliable and safe vehicles
in the world, Volvo currently produces such leading cars as
the C30, C70 and S80 for sale in the United States.
